Oct. 5, 1998 Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has received a 1 billion-New-Taiwan-dollar-order for a power distribution system from Taiwan Power Company. The company will supply the control, networking and other equipment needed for the system, which is due to go into operation in May 2001.
The system will automatically control switches for distribution lines, repairs, electricity bill calculations and load adjustments.
Heavy electrical machinery makers are increasingly reassessing business strategies as domestic power companies curb capital investment and have difficulty finding sites for new power plants.
Mitsubishi Electric plans to target orders for power distribution equipment in Southeast Asia, where demand is expected to grow over the long term.
