Iran to provide electricity for three western Afghan provinces

02-05-02 Western Afghan provinces are to be supplied with electric power from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The deputy minister of water and electricity of Afghanistan's interim administration said at his meeting with the deputy governor of Baluchistan: "The Ministry of Water and Electricity of Afghanistan intends to arrange the supply of electricity from Iran to the three [western Afghan] provinces of Farah, Herat and Nimroz."

The deputy minister also emphasized that, "For the purpose of evaluating the transmission of electric power from Iran to Afghanistan, a delegation made up of four experts of the interim administration visited some power generating entities, institutions and companies belonging to the Iranian Ministry of Energy in Khorasan, Tehran and Zahedan Provinces."
